What is ADHD coaching?
ADHD coaching is about understanding your brain and how it works best. It’s about delving into what makes you tick. Then we work out how to use those insights so you can live your best life.
ADHD coaching helps you write a user manual for your brain, and along the way you will set (and achieve) goals that build the foundations for the life you want to live.
Coaching can help you achieve goals you already know about, it can help you find the long term goals you might not have yet, and it can help you learn about yourself by developing the executive functioning skills that aren’t as well developed in the ADHD brain.
I use the ADHD Works executive functioning framework to explore how your ADHD shows up for you, and how you can work around the challenges you face, using the strengths you already have.
Neurotypical coaching can be hard for ADHDers and otherwise neurodivergent people to engage with. Sometimes we need some structure and guidance that you don’t get from traditional coaching.
There’s no right or wrong in coaching. It’s all about learning who you are, and how you are, in a safe space with someone who gets what it’s like with a different brain.
What ADHD coaching is not
ADHD coaching is not therapy, it’s not counselling, and it’s not school! I can give advice and make suggestions if you need them, but coaching is about unlocking what works best for you, not necessarily for other people.
It’s not about making you neurotypical, it’s not about teaching you to mask or to suppress your unique blend of traits.
Coaching isn’t an ongoing arrangement that you’ll do every week for the rest of your life! My aim is to get you to a place where you’re managing your challenges really well, and you don’t need me any more. I’m trying to work myself out of a job, essentially.
Who is ADHD coaching for?
It’s for anyone with an ADHD diagnosis, or who self-identifies as ADHD (and might be stuck on a waiting list). Parents of ADHDers, employers and employees facing challenges in the workplace can also benefit from having ADHD coaching to understand how differently our brains work. I can coach autistic people, AuDHDers and people who are working out their own flavour of neurodivergence. As a dyspraxic AuDHDer, I get it!
I can help you understand your brain and learn about ADHD, but if you’ve done your own hyperfocused deep-dive into ADHD we can work from where you are on the journey. Maybe you know what ADHD is but want to understand more about how it shows up for you.
ADHD coaching is also great for people who have a goal, ambition or project but need some structure and guidance along the way.
How does ADHD coaching work?
I see clients online, unless you happen to be based in Sussex and prefer in-person sessions.
There is homework, which I set – usually worksheets and quizzes to help you explore yourself. There are also goals, which you set – these are totally up to you!
How much does it cost?
Based on a 60 min session, I offer a block of 6 sessions for ₤400 (which includes my time writing email recaps).
I’m flexible about session length – some coaching offerings are over 90 minutes per session, which is a big attention demand for us ADHDers!
Some clients cover what they want in 30 minutes, others need longer to talk. When you book a set of 6 sessions, you’re getting 360 minutes of face time that we can schedule however works best for you.
After the initial sessions, we can book in another block, or just a couple more depending on how you’re getting on. Everyone is different!
Think of ADHD coaching as an investment in yourself. If you’d spend ₤70 on a night out, you could get an hour of coaching for less.
What do I get?
On top of the face-to-face time, you’ll get an e-mail recap of the session, reminders of upcoming sessions, and accountability if you need it. You’ll have access to the ADHD Works executive functioning framework structure, if that’s right for you.
What do I do next?
Send me a message, letting me know when you’re available for an introductory call (no charge) and I’ll set up a zoom meeting where we can meet and discuss how we can work together.
I look forward to helping you unlock your potential.
